After a very long drive and many challenges on the M6, last Friday was the much anticipated 6th annual UK Heart Safe Awards at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester.
Attended by Jane Lambert CEO, and myself Victoria Garratt Business Manager, the annual awards are designed to reflect the amazing work done over the last year by both companies and individuals alike whom all share the commitment and dedication of saving of lives of those who suffer cardiac arrest.
This black tie event was hosted by the Hand on Heart charity who have a simple goal: to prevent the deaths of the 12 young people who die due to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) each week by raising awareness of cardiac arrest in the young, funding defibrillators for schools and educating children how to perform basic life support and save lives.
As well as the essential fundraising activities of the evening, organisations of all shapes and sizes were invited to enter one or more of the 14 categories of awards to celebrate lifesaving achievements. ECG were delighted to be shortlisted for:
- Educational establishment of the year
- SME business of the year
- Professional services organisation of the year
Sadly, we were pipped to the post on the night by some very worthy winners, but this didn’t detract from the honour of supporting the wonderful work carried out by the charity and being recognised for the work we deliver at such a prestigious event.
We were delighted to be able to meet the many individuals who either raise money in support of purchasing lifesaving equipment, as well as others who saved a life by acting quickly in what would be very stressful conditions. With not a dry eye in the house, the amazing stories recognised over the evening helped to make for a very humbling and memorable evening.
We thank everyone involved for a lovely evening.
