Venepuncture training for Primary Care
On completion, learners will be able to undertake venepuncture (obtaining venous blood samples) on adults in accordance with current professional guidance.
Student Effort – 20 Hours as follows:
Workbook Completion – 6 Hours
Focused Practical Day – 8 Hours
Supervised Practice – 6 Hours
- Learners must be employed in a healthcare setting in a patient facing role.
- Registered healthcare staff may also access this learning.
- Learners must have access to a work-based supervisor to supervise venepuncture in practice. This should be arranged prior to attending the training.
- Only Registered healthcare professionals may act as supervisors in accordance with their regulatory codes.
NOTE: Learners will need to have a valid occupational health screening from their workplace and vaccination
